MOTION HOUSE
Awards: First Runner-Up, Popular Vote

Motion House is designed to fulfill Thailand’s famous musician Popetorn Soon- thornyanakij’s childhood dream of becoming an animator. The project provides a continuous flow of an interior space in order to allow the main user and his partner an experience of being in their own animation story.Popetorn has a habit of moving around the house when he is composing his music. The design, therefore, places small sitting areas throughout the house to allow the user to move freely and casually from one area to another, thus creating motions within the house. The connectivity between spaces consists of 2 subtraction interior wall types. First, the frame subtraction is drilled at different levels to maximize users’ privacy. While users cannot have an eye contact with one another, they can still see and experience the motion of others moving inside the house. Second, the frame subtraction is drilled at the same level. This allows users to see each other, and become a moving animation of each other.
